Backflow Prevention

STOP IT BEFORE IT STARTS

When water flows in the wrong direction in a water supply system, contamination can occur, which puts the health of thousands at risk. Every year, over 10,000 backflow contamination cases are reported.

These are preventable. Please don’t let it happen to you. We can help!

WHAT IS BACKFLOW PREVENTION?

In water supply systems, water is normally maintained at a certain pressure to enable water to flow freely from the faucet, shower, or other taps in your home. When the pressure is reduced, like when a water main bursts, pipe freezes, or there’s an unexpectedly high demand on the water system, your home could be in trouble.

This can cause the pressure in the pipe to decrease and allow contaminated water from the ground, storage, or other sources to be drawn into the clean system.

To prevent these dangerous occurrences, many regulatory departments require an air gap or mechanical backflow prevention assembly between the delivery point and local storage. The backflow prevention assembly protects the potable water system from contamination hazards, which will keep your water safe to consume and use as intended.

Only a licensed and certified backflow tester with approved gauges can test and install this equipment correctly. With our experience and certifications in keeping water systems safe, choosing Wm. Masters Inc. is an easy choice.
